Leadership Webster applications open for nine-month program

by Amber McDown

The Greater Minden Chamber has announced the opening of applications for the Leadership Webster program, offering participants a unique opportunity to engage with local leaders and understand the community better. The program spans nine months, beginning with an orientation reception in September and culminating in a graduation luncheon in May.

Participants will convene once a month, visiting various locations across the community. They will also attend meetings of key community groups such as the Minden City Council, the Webster Parish School Board, and the Webster Parish Police Jury. Sessions are typically held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month, starting at 8 AM and concluding at 5 PM.

A highlight of the program is the mandatory, overnight, two-day visit to the Legislature in April, coinciding with the Louisiana Legislative Session. The curriculum covers a wide range of topics including community history, education, economic development, healthcare, and social concerns, among others.

Attendance is a key component of the program, with participants expected to attend all sessions and community group meetings, with no more than two absences. Failure to meet these requirements will result in automatic dismissal from the program without refund.
