A Minden police officer arrested Jeffery Tulley, 48, of Shreveport, during a traffic stop after discovering methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in his vehicle. The incident began when the officer observed a silver Hyundai Sonata speeding and followed it off the 47-mile marker ramp onto Lee Street.
Upon initiating the stop, the officer noticed Tulley’s nervous behavior, including fidgeting, gesturing with his hands, and speaking with a shaky voice. Tulley admitted to speeding, stating he does not usually exceed the speed limit. While the officer conducted a warrant and driver’s license check, which revealed Tulley’s license was suspended, another officer arrived to assist.
Tulley was asked to step out of the vehicle, and when asked if there was anything officers should be concerned about, he denied having any illegal items. Despite Tulley’s refusal to consent to a search, an open-air sniff by K9 Brams led to a positive alert for narcotics.
During the subsequent search, officers found a black sock containing a glass pipe and a plastic bag with a crystal-like substance, later identified as methamphetamine. Tulley was arrested and charged with driving under a suspended license, possession of a Schedule II narcotic, and possession of paraphernalia.
He was transported to the Minden Police Department following the arrest.
