A 21-year-old Minden man was arrested on multiple felony charges following a domestic disturbance. The suspect, identified as Larry Dyess Cook, was accused of assaulting his girlfriend and threatening her with a firearm.
According to police, officers responded to a call on August 28 where the victim reported that Cook had physically assaulted her and brandished a gun. Upon arrival, officers observed visible injuries on the victim, including swelling, bruising, and fresh lacerations on her face and neck.
Officers located Cook on Clerk Street, where the incident occurred. He was taken into custody and informed of his rights under Miranda. A firearm described by the victim was found in the room from which Cook was exiting when officers arrived. The firearm was later confirmed to be stolen, according to state and National Crime Information Center (NCIC) records. Additionally, multiple strands of the victim’s hair were discovered in the suspect’s bedroom.
Cook was charged with domestic abuse aggravated assault with child endangerment and domestic abuse battery with child endangerment and strangulation. Both charges are felonies.
All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
