Vintage Car & Bike Show draws large crowd to downtown Minden

by Amber McDown

The 16th Annual Car & Bike Show brought vintage vehicle enthusiasts together in downtown Minden on September 14 with the town’s streets lined with classic cars, trucks, and motorcycles. Hosted by the Vintage Car Club, the event attracted participants and spectators from across the Ark-La-Tex region for a day filled with competition, entertainment, and family fun.

The event featured various classes of vehicles, with entries ranging from antique cars to modified muscle cars and motorcycles. Among the day’s winners, Danny and Shelley Francis took first place in the Antique Class A2 (1926-1959 Original) with their 1931 Ford Model A, while Charles Morganthall’s 1970 Chevy Chevelle earned him first in the SMCI Sport & Muscle (1960-1975) class. Morganthall also took home the prestigious Best of Show award with his 1956 Chevy.

Other notable winners included Monica Moore, who took first place in the SMC3 Sport & Muscle (1986-2000) class with her 1986 Buick, and Dean Smith, who claimed the top spot in the C8 Corvette Class (2020-Present) with his 2023 Chevy Corvette. The People’s Choice award went to Tommy Bourn for his 1965 Shelby Cobra, while 11-month-old True was recognized as the youngest participant of the event.

The show featured a variety of other vehicle categories, including trucks, street rods, and motorcycles. In addition to the vehicle displays, visitors enjoyed great food, entertainment, and the lively atmosphere that has become a hallmark of the annual event.
