The REC’s Fall Fest draws crowd despite competing events

The Minden Recreation Complex hosted its annual Fall Fest on Saturday, October 26, drawing an estimated 320 attendees. Parks and Recreation Director Zita Williams highlighted the haunted house as the primary attraction, with lines extending around the building.

“This year, the Minden Rec fall festival was a wonderful success,” Williams said. “While our attendance was smaller than previous years, the children had an absolute blast! The main attraction was the haunted house, with lines wrapping around the building. I believe our numbers were affected by other events happening simultaneously, such as the junior high homecoming dance.”

The festival raised $265 in admission fees from the haunted house, which will go toward supplies for next year’s event. The superhero bounce houses also drew strong participation from younger attendees, adding to the festive atmosphere.

The REC expressed thanks to local businesses and community members for supporting the celebration. “It was heartwarming to see so many smiles on the children’s faces! This event truly embodies the reason we do what we do at the REC. It’s all about the kids in our wonderful community!” Williams said.

The smaller turnout did not dampen the spirits of attendees, as children and families enjoyed the day’s activities dedicated to fostering a fun and safe environment in Minden.
