A Minden man was arrested on November 20 after police observed multiple traffic violations while he was riding a bicycle. The incident led to the recovery of a firearm and several charges, including being a felon in possession of a weapon.
According to the Minden Police Department, an officer patrolling Fulton Street observed a male bicyclist riding without front or rear lights, traveling on the wrong side of the road, and failing to stop at a stop sign. When the officer attempted a traffic stop using lights and sirens, the bicyclist fled. During the pursuit, the subject discarded a firearm in a grassy area.
The man, identified as 23-year-old Jadameon Lewis, was taken into custody. Officers later recovered the discarded firearm. After being read his Miranda rights, Lewis admitted to possessing the weapon.
A criminal history check revealed Lewis is a convicted felon, with prior convictions for domestic aggravated assault in December 2019 and fraudulent possession of firearms and ammunition in April 2024. As a result, Lewis is prohibited from owning or possessing firearms.
Lewis was transported to the Minden Police Department for booking before being transferred to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center. He faces charges of failure to obey traffic laws applicable to bicycles, failure to have required lights on a bicycle, resisting an officer, obstruction of justice (a felony), and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
