A Dallas man was arrested Friday after a traffic stop led to the discovery of drug paraphernalia and marijuana, according to Minden police.
Damian Finley, 35, was taken into custody on multiple charges, including improper lane usage, resisting arrest by refusing to identify, drug paraphernalia, and resisting an officer.
According to police, an officer observed a black Volkswagen Jetta with Texas plates failing to maintain its lane while driving along Shreveport Road on March 21. The officer initiated a traffic stop, and Finley, the driver, attempted to exit the vehicle but was ordered to remain inside.
Upon approaching the car, the officer informed Finley of the reason for the stop and noticed a bong in the center cup holder. When asked if there were any drugs or weapons in the vehicle, Finley reportedly replied, “All I have is a little weed.”
Police said Finley refused multiple commands to exit the vehicle. A lieutenant arrived to assist, and after continued refusal, the officer deployed a Taser 7 as a warning. Finley was eventually removed from the vehicle and placed in handcuffs.
Officers said Finley refused to provide his first and last name upon his arrest. A search of the vehicle uncovered two smoking bongs with burned marijuana residue and a bag containing approximately 1.9 grams of marijuana in the center console. A records check revealed Finley had two active bench warrants.
He was transported to the Minden Police Department for booking.
