BATON ROUGE — Louisiana Tech finished with a 1-1 mark in its two mid-week contests this week after falling to No. 5 LSU on Wednesday night in Baton Rouge. The Tigers won 9-1 after plating four in the bottom of the sixth to secure the run-rule victory. The loss moves LA Tech to 24-16 (10-5 CUSA).
The Bulldogs defeated ULL 2-1 Wednesday night.
Allie Floyd (17-8) took the loss in the circle after allowing four runs on three hits in one inning of work. Mattison Buster relieved Floyd and allowed one run on one hit across three innings. Alyssa Martin pitched the final 1.1 innings and allowed four runs on six hits.
The Bulldogs were outhit 10-3 in the loss. Elena Heng, Allie Furr, and Alexis Gilio all recorded singles, while Heng scored LA Tech’s lone run. Reagan Marchant recorded an RBI after scoring Heng on a fielder’s choice in the first inning.
HOW IT HAPPENED
LA Tech jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning as Heng led off the game with a single to right field on the second pitch she saw. After a strikeout, Heng worked her way to third on a stolen base and a passed ball. Marchant was able to drive in Heng as she reached on a fielder’s choice to first.
LSU responded with four runs on three hits in the bottom of the inning to take the lead for good. After a flyout to the first batter of the inning, Maci Bergeron hit a two-run home run to left field to take a 2-1 lead. Two walks and a bases clearing double would make it 4-1 LSU.
Buster came in and pitched three scoreless frames, before walking the Tigers’ leadoff hitter in bottom of the fifth. After a pitching change that saw Martin enter the circle, LSU was able to score their leadoff batter after she stole second and scored on a single to make it 5-1.
The Tigers took advantage of two LA Tech errors and used four runs and four hits to secure the 9-1 victory in the bottom of the sixth.

The Bulldogs move to 4-29 against LSU all-time after the loss.
Allie Floyd made her 19th start of the season in the circle.
Elena Heng stole her 12th base of the season.
Mattison Buster made her 14th appearance out of the bullpen after tossing three innings.
