Cullen man arrested on sexual battery charge at Sarepta truck stop

by Minden Press-Herald

A Cullen resident was arrested late Wednesday on a sexual battery charge stemming from an incident at a truck‑stop casino office earlier that day, according to the Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said Eddie Wafer, 68, was taken into custody at 11:27 PM after investigators reviewed surveillance video from Timberland Truck Stop. The footage allegedly shows Wafer touching a female employee’s leg and genital area without consent around 7 AM Wednesday, authorities said. He also is accused of placing the employee’s hand on his own genital area, investigators reported.

The employee told deputies she repeatedly told Wafer “no” before the contact stopped. A copy of the video was collected as evidence, the Sheriff’s Office said.

After being transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center, Wafer was advised of his rights and admitted to the allegations, deputies said.

Wafer was booked on one count of sexual battery.

All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
