Parish Design Co. to host third annual Decked Out skateboard art show

by Amber McDown

Parish Design Co. will showcase the artistic talents of Webster Parish students next week with its third annual “Decked Out” skateboard art show.

The exhibition will feature 41 students from all four high schools in Webster Parish, each creating a one-of-a-kind piece of artwork on a skateboard deck. The show debuts Tuesday, April 29 at 6PM at Parish Design Co. After that, the collection will be open to the public on Thursday and Friday from 10AM until 4PM and on Saturday from 10AM until 1PM.

“We are so excited to host our third annual Decked Out skateboard show. Forty-one students from Webster Parish schools were chosen to create a one of a kind piece of artwork. Stop by and see these incredibly talented young people,” said Rachel Miller, co-owner of Parish Design Co.

Rachel Miller and her husband, Patrick Miller, launched Parish Design Co. as a way to connect with young and creative individuals across the parish. With a passion for both the arts and skateboarding, the Millers, alongside Webster Parish art teachers, created the “Decked Out” show to highlight student talent and encourage artistic growth in the community.

Patrick Miller’s inspiration for the program came from a similar exhibition he initiated during his time at Louisiana Tech University. The Millers said they are exploring additional creative opportunities to provide outlets for young artists in Webster Parish.

The Decked Out skateboard show aims to not only celebrate student creativity but also foster a lifelong appreciation for the arts within the community. The public is invited to come meet these young artists on Tuesday night.
