Local residents have the chance to put a spotlight on their favorite small businesses by nominating them for a $50,000 prize in a nationwide contest hosted by AT&T.
The Small Business Contest is now open, offering one grand prize of $50,000, a year of AT&T service and a new device. Four additional businesses will each receive $5,000.
Community members can nominate any small business, such as restaurants, coffee shops or service providers, by submitting 250 words or less explaining why the business is important to the community. Business owners may also nominate themselves.
Nominations are being accepted through September 30 at att.com/shesconnected.
AT&T officials said the contest is designed to highlight the impact of small businesses that bring communities together and support local activities. In Webster Parish, that could mean recognizing the family-owned diner, the shop on Main Street or the service provider that sponsors local ball teams.
