Man found dead in apartment after several weeks, police investigating

A 54-year-old man was found dead Monday at the Lamplighter Apartments after apparently being deceased for several weeks, according to Minden Police Chief Jared McIver.

An exterminator alerted authorities after noticing a suspicious smell. Officers discovered the man’s body on the living room floor. McIver said a woman had been living in the apartment during that time but did not report the death.

The body has been sent to Little Rock, Arkansas, for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

“We are still waiting for the autopsy to come back. We are still investigating the matter to rule out any possibility of foul play,” McIver said.

No charges have been filed, and the case remains under investigation.
