Attempted assault takes place at Camp Minden day after riot

by Minden Press-Herald

Webster Parish Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Camp Minden earlier this week, merely a day after the riot that broke out there in which nine arrests were made. During this incident,  Kenneth Sanders, 18, attempted to assault another individual there with batteries in a sock.

Sanders reportedly made threats toward another individual there, stating he was going to hit them. The arrest report stated, “[A deputy] was dispatched to Camp Minden in reference to Kenneth Sanders putting batteries in a sock, stating that he was going to hit [him] then attempting to hit [him] with the weapon.”

Luckily, the victim was able to fend off Sander’s assault and was able to successfully disarm him before he could do any harm. “[He] stated that he was able to subdue Kenneth on the ground and secure the weapon without incident,” the report stated.

The sock was collected as evidence. There is no video footage of the incident because Sanders had moved the camera prior to the incident. Sanders later admitted to preparing the weapon and threatening to attack.

Sanders was booked into the BDCC on the charge of aggravated assault.
