Brody Bower, a 2024 Minden graduate, and Glenbrook senior Easton Sanders have helped the Bossier Phillies reach the championship round of the American Legion Baseball Mid-South Regional Tournament in Washington, Mo.
Bower pitched a complete game as Bossier rallied past Tupelo, Miss., 6-2 Saturday. He scattered eight hits, struck out three and walked one.
Trailing 1-0, the Phillies led off the top of the sixth with three consecutive singles. Sanders then brought home the tying run with a groundout. He scored a run later in the four-run inning on an error.
The Phillies, who are 3-1 in the tournament, face Bryant, Ark., at 11 a.m. They will be looking to avenge a 5-2 loss to Bryant on Thursday.
Bossier, Bryant and Tupelo are the only three teams left in the double-elimination tournament.
Because Tupelo defeated Bryant in the winners’ bracket finals, it automatically draws the bye into Sunday’s 2 p.m. championship game.
The Bossier-Bryant winner plays Tupelo for the title. The winner advances to the 97th American Legion World Series Aug. 15-20 in Shelby, N.C.
Bossier opened the tournament Wednesday with a 5-1 victory over Ada, Okla. Sanders had a single.
The Phillies then fell to Bryant 5-2 Thursday. Bower pitched three scoreless innings of relief, allowing only one hit. Sanders had a double.
Bossier rebounded with a 7-1 victory over Columbia, Tenn., in an elimination game Friday.
Sanders started and went 2 1/3 innings. He allowed two hits and no runs with two strikeouts and two walks.
