“My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples.” John 15:8 NASB
The chief aim of man is to glorify God, so states the old Westminster Catechism. Jesus declares that God the Father is glorified through His disciples bearing much fruit. Like a branch that is abiding in the vine, a disciple that bears fruit must be abiding in Christ, nourished and empowered by Christ. The disciple’s faithful obedience to Christ will be proved by the fruit that is produced, a life that exhibits the character of Christ and that reproduces by leading others to a saving relationship in Christ.
Lord Jesus, I desire that my life bear the fruit of love, joy, peace, full of grace, mercy and truth, and that through my witness others are drawn to You. Most of all, may all I do bring glory to God.
