Funeral services for Mr. Billy Wayne Redding, 84, will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017 at the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel in Springhill with the Rev. Kenneth DeHart officiating. Interment will follow in Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home in Springhill.

Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday at Bailey Funeral Home.

Mr. Redding was born on Nov. 24, 1932 to Nannie Lee (Thompson) and Weldon P. Redding in Overton, Texas and passed away on Friday, Sept. 8, 2017 in Bossier City. He retired from Marathon Oil Company in 1994 after 38 years of service and served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955.

He is survived by two daughters, Jonell Hagner (Joe) of York, SC, Leanne R. Hurst of Cotton Valley, son, Richard Redding (Dinah) of Forsyth, Georgia, grandchildren, Rease Hagner (Amy) of Rock Hill, South Carolina, Adam Hagner of Waxhaw, North Carolina, Deenie Kurtz (Sam) of Frisco, Texas and Stuart Redding of San Antonio, Texas, great-grandchildren, Will Hagner and Anna Hagner of Waxhaw, North Carolina, sister-in-law, Clarice Sanders (Aubrey) of Phoenix, Arizona, and brothers and sisters, Joe Merritt (Marinette), Alice Kidwell (Bill), Kitty Sue Lovelace (Tom), Jane Jones (Gene), Ronnie Merritt, Mary Curry, Buddy Merritt, Patty Hollingsworth and Melinda Edwards (Jim).

Mr. Redding was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Ruth Ann (Dunn), his parents and brothers, Tommy Merritt and I. T. Merritt.
