For all the Blues lovers out there, be at The Farm about 5 p.m. Saturday.
The second Minden Blues Fest will be Saturday, June 13 with the gates opening at 4:30 p.m. at 419 E. Union Street. Headlining the event will be TK Soul, featuring the Shreveport Jazz Ensemble. Rue Davis will start about 7 p.m.
Tickets are $25; they are $30 at the gate. Tickets are available at The Farm or Woo’s Barber Shop.
Rance Foster, who began the Blues Fest, says the festival is about bringing people together in a fun, family atmosphere.
“The purpose for this event is for people to come out and enjoy themselves,” he said. “Even our local businesses have bought tickets for their employees. It’s also to generate money for Minden.”
He says quite a few people from out of town are expected to attend. Last year, roughly 1,000 attended the festival.
“Last year’s was the single largest event held at The Farm,” said Chris Broussard, co-founder of Cultural Crossroads. “It was incredible.”
“It brings people into Minden, and people that came last year will be coming back,” he said. “It’s turning out to be real nice, just a family environment.”
With so many people coming together and donating for the children who come through The Farm, Foster says he wanted something for the adults too, and the Blues Fest is one way to do that.
