Terri Byrd and Paige King with Life Air Rescue spoke at the Lions Club Luncheon Thursday.
Life Air Rescue is an emergency medical service that utilizes aircraft to transport patients.

King, a flight nurse and program director for LAR, spoke on the capabilities of LAR’s aircraft, detailing that the helicopters they use are well stocked for transporting patients from the scene of an accident to a trauma center.

“Our aircraft has two engines, so if one should fail we have a backup,” King said. King also noted that in the event of low visibility, LAR has access to a plane.

Byrd, a membership sales manager for LAR, explained the coverage that goes along with being a member of the AirMedCare network.

“If you become a member, the plan covers your immediate relatives,” Byrd said. She clarified that if a member is the caretaker of an elderly family member that lives on their property, they would also be covered.
