A celebration of life service for Byron Myrick will be held Wednesday, July 20, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Minden with Bro. Ronnie Whitlock of Beech Springs Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory in Minden. The family will receive friends from 8:30 a.m. Wednesday until service time.

Byron was born July 19, 1944 in Shreveport and entered into rest July 18, 2016 in Minden. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War in Thailand. Byron was a heavy equipment operator for 40+ years, known for his expertise at “laying grade” prior to paving parking lots and roads. He was also an expert welder, often repairing his father’s farm equipment as well as Mona and Larry’s equipment.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer J. and Mildred Maddry Myrick and grandparents Drew and Ida Maddry and Peter and Agnes Myrick.

He is survived by his sister Mona and husband Larry Elkins and numerous cousins and friends.

The family would like to thank Dr. Haddad and his nurses Paige, Nancy, Monica, and Laura at the VA Hospital. They are also appreciative of the nurses at Meadowview Nursing Home as well as sitters Tracy Dewhart and Annette Abney. Mona and Larry are grateful for the friendship of Byron’s neighbors; Phyllis and Ricky Belk, Ed Sewell, and Susie Bates.

Pallbearers will be Ed Corley, Ed Sewell, Ricky Belk, Bo Thurman, Susie Bates, and Robert (Pud) Thurman.
