The Minden Dixie Angels are state champions for the second consecutive year, defeating Madisonville 3-2 in the championship game Monday night in Alexandria. It was so fun last year, why not go back for more?

The Minden Dixie Angels are on their way to the Dixie Angels World Series after defeating Madsionville 3-2 in the championship game of the state tournament Tuesday night.

The Angels team that won state last year mostly departed into the older age division, but the new bunch of Angels, fresh off their own state run last year in Darlings, got the job done just the same.

Heres a look at how they punched their ticket.

Saturday

Minden 11
Madisonville 1

After starting the tournament with a blowout win, Minden kept it up by crushing Madisonville 11-1. Lillian Jolly, Katelin Weston and Dakota Howard had a pair of singles each. Kylie Ryan, Kaydree Kemp, Kenzie Warmack and Lainey Mercer added base hits.

Benton 5

Elisabeth Cage had three singles to lead the way, followed by Dakota Howard with a double and Elyse Jackson, Katelin Weston, Lainey Mercer and Laci Cheatham added base hits. Kylie Ryan had five strikeouts.

Lainey Mercer had two doubles to lead Minden in the semifinal game, followed by Kaydree Kemp with a triple. Lillian Jolly had two singles, and Ambree Collinsworth, Laci Cheatham, Katelin Weston, Dakota Howard, Elyse Jackson and Elisabeth Cage added singles. Colby Hollis struck out four batters in the circle and Elisabeth Cage struck out three.

Minden entered the championship undefeated, meaning Madisonville had to beat them twice in order for Minden to not bring home the trophy. Madisonville took the first game. Kenzie Warmack doubled and singles to lead the offense, followed by Elyse Jackson and Laci Cheatham with a pair of singles. Kaydree Kemp, Lainey Mercer, Elisabeth Cage and Lillian Jolly all added hits. Kylie Ryan and Colby Hollis struck out two batters in the circle.

Game 2

Minden 3
Madisonville 2

In the decisive game, Minden was led by Elisabeth Cage with a triple at the plate. Dakota Howard and Elyse Jackson had two singles and Kylie Ryan and Colby Hollis added singles.

Hollis and Ryan got the job done on the mound as well, with Ryan striking out two batters and Hollis striking out three in three innings.

The Angels World Series begins in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, July 31.
