Shreveport, LA — April 2026 — Families of students with special needs are invited to attend the upcoming DOEC Transition Fair, a community-centered event designed to connect students and their families with essential resources, services, and opportunities for life after high school.
The Transition Fair will take place on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Eddie Jones Special Programs Center, located at 2226 Murphy Street in Shreveport, Louisiana.
This impactful event aims to support students who are transitioning out of high school by providing direct access to agencies, service providers, and organizations that specialize in postsecondary planning, employment opportunities, independent living support, and community-based services.
“Transition planning can feel overwhelming for many families,” said Renee Caldwell, M.Ed., Transition Specialist and event coordinator. “Our goal is to bring everything into one space so families can leave informed, empowered, and supported as they prepare for the future.”
Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with local agencies, learn about job training opportunities, explore independent living supports, and receive guidance tailored to their child’s needs.
The Transition Fair is free and open to families, students, educators, and community members.
