Homegoing Celebration Services for Mr. Charles Ray Markray Frazier “Shadrack” will be held Saturday, October 6, 1:00 P.M. at the Fourteenth District Building, 123 Bailey Street, Minden, LA with Pastor Rodney E. Williams, officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. Comfort BC Cemetery.

Charles Ray Markray Frazier affectionately known as “Shadrack” was born on January 13, 1956 to Catherine Mims Thomas and the late Jasper Markray. Charles Ray confessed Christ at an early age as a member of Mount Comfort Baptist Church. Charles was educated in the Webster Parish School System. As a student at Minden High School, he was known as an awesome basketball player and held one of the longest records. Charles was a hardworking man. For over forty-five (45) years, he worked as a heavy equipment machine operator. He was a trail-blazar in his own right. Having the favor of God, he was quickly promoted to a training supervisor. He was determined to leave a positive impact on the profession and created many great opportunities for African-American men to have good paying jobs as heavy duty machine operators. His training enabled some to open successful construction companies that created good paying jobs.

He hand-trained and developed the same skills in his sons, LaCharleston Markray and Eddie “Kane” Markray, who will continue his legacy as one of the top heavy equipment machine-operators.

Later in life, Charles rededicated his life to Christ where he remained a long-standing active member of Living Hope of New Zion Baptist Church under the direction of Reverend Dr. Bennie Alford, Sr. As a member, he has served on the Deacon Board, Sunday School Teacher and was in training for Sunday School Superintendent.

On Sunday, September 30, 2018, Charles answered the Master Call, took his wings and flew away. No more pain or suffering. He was preceded in death by his father, Jasper Markray; sisters Pearlie Shyne and Christine Chipps, brothers James Markray and Thomas Markray and two grandmothers and two grand fathers.
