by Minden Press-Herald

A child died following a house fire on Cadillac Street in the early hours of Wednesday, April 15, according to local officials.

The Minden Fire Department was dispatched to the scene at approximately 2 AM and arrived in under four minutes. Upon arrival, more than half of the home was engulfed in flames.

Firefighters entered the residence after knocking down enough of the fire to search for a child believed to be inside.

“We were told there was someone inside the house, and we were able to remove the victim from the house and turn their care over to the ambulance that was on scene,” said Fire Chief Brian Williams.

The child was transported to Minden Medical Center, where they later died.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control within minutes after removing the victim, and the fire was fully extinguished shortly thereafter.

No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Louisiana State Fire Marshal. More details are expected as the investigation continues.
