Minden council approves engineering agreement, road project bids

by Amber McDown

The Minden City Council approved all items on its agenda during a special session held Monday, April 13, 2026, at Minden City Hall, with all council members present and voting unanimously.

Council members authorized Mayor Nick Cox to enter into a short-form agreement between the City of Minden and Waggoner Engineering, Inc. for professional services.

The council also awarded Bid No. 02-2026 for the Industrial Drive Rehabilitation project at Louisiana Highway 531. The project, located near Love’s Truck Stop, was awarded to RVP Construction with a low bid of $1.2 million.

In additional action, the council granted authority to advertise for bids for the 2025-2026 Street Improvements Project, which is currently estimated at $1.6 million. The proposed list of streets includes Sheppard Street from Shreveport Road to East Union Street, Joel Street, Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Winford Street, Clerk Street from Howell Street to Pine Street, Country Club Drive from Drake Drive to Germantown Road, and parts of Drake Drive.

“We may not be able to do them all. We may have to shorten some things … or come up with some other wild-card way to get them done, but this list, in my opinion, is a really good list and will help move our city forward,” Cox said.

The Minden City Council meets regularly on the first Monday of each month at 6 PM in City Hall. Meetings are open to the public and are also available via livestream on the City of Minden’s YouTube and Facebook pages.
