Kids from The Children’s Center spent Monday morning at The Farm planting a community garden in preparation for Chickenstock. Piney Hills Master Gardener member Julie Alexander taught the kids how to plant a vegetable garden and the difference between “shoots and roots.” Kids planted potatoes and carrots – root plants – and green beans, tomatoes, herbs, and other plants – shoot plants. Around the vegetables, they planted flowers to pollinate the vegetable seeds. Chickenstock is April 11-16, with the event open to the public Saturday, April 16.
