College baseball: BPCC extends winning streak to nine

The Bossier Parish Community College Cavaliers extended their winning streak to nine with a doubleheader sweep of SAU Tech Friday in Camden, Ark.

BPCC won the first game 18-0 and the second 8-7. The Cavaliers improved to 9-2.

BPCC got 11 hits in the six-inning first game. The Cavs ended the game via the run rule with 10 in the sixth. BPCC scored seven in the first and one in the fifth.

Riley Kwak went 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBI. Zach Bretza went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBI. Braylin Harris went 2-for-4 with two RBI. 

Jacob Poletto hit a two-run home run. Mason Sanders had three RBI. Hayden LeBleu had two RBI.

Starter Ben Mckinnon allowed two hits, struck out six and walked two in four innings.

Cord Copley struck out two in an inning of relief.

Haden Peshoff’s leadoff home broke a 7-7 tie in the top of the eighth in the second game.

The Cavs led 5-0 after five. The Rockets cut the lead to one with four in the bottom of the sixth.

BPCC added two in the seventh before SAU Tech tied it with three in the bottom of the inning.

Peshoff went 2-for-3. Bretza went 2-for-4 with a solo home run. Former Parkway star Brandon Levy went 2-for-5. 

Kash Martin went 2-for-5 with a double. James Reina had a double and two RBI. Kwak hit a solo home run.

Former Minden star Brody Bower started and went 5 2/3 innings. He allowed three earned runs and five hits with seven strikeouts and one walk.

Former Benton star Bryson Pierce struck out two in 2/3 of an inning of relief. Levy struck out two and allowed one hit in the eighth. Chase Randall pitched a scoreless ninth.

BPCC hosts Copiah-Lincoln Community College in a noon doubleheader Monday.
