Former Glenbrook star Maddox Mandino helped the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns stay alive in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament Friday.

Mandino, a junior center fielder, went 2-for-4 with an RBI-double that gave Louisiana a 5-0 lead over Coastal Carolina in top of the fourth inning.

The No. 7 seed Cajuns held on for a 5-4 victory and eliminated the No. 2 seed Chanticleers. It was the Cajuns’ second one-run victory over Coastal Carolina in the tournament.

Louisiana faces No. 6 Texas State Saturday at 10 a.m. at Riddle-Pace Field in Troy, Ala. The Cajuns lost to Texas State 4-3 Thursday night after leading 3-0 going into the bottom of the ninth. Mandino went 1-for-2 and is 7-for-11 in three tournament games.

If Louisiana wins, the teams will play again at 1:30 p.m. with the winner advancing to Sunday’s winner-take-all championship game.

Top-seed Southern Miss, No. 4 Troy and No. 5 South Alabama remain alive on the other side of the bracket.
