College football: Feasters making their mark at Louisiana Christian

by Russell Hedges

The Feasters are making their mark on the Louisiana Christian football program this season.

Former Glenbrook Head Coach David Feaster is in his first season as offensive coordinator. His son Sammy, a former Glenbrook standout, is a junior wide receiver.

They have helped the Wildcats get off to a 4-0 start.

Louisiana Christian is second in teams out of the top 25 that received votes in the most recent NAIA Football Coaches’ Top 25 Ratings Presented by FirstDown Playbook. LCU has never been ranked in the top 25.

The Wildcats are No. 17 in the CFB Network poll. They are the highest ranked team from the Sooner Athletic Conference.

Sammy Feaster is the team’s leading receiver with 12 catches for 399 yards and four touchdowns.

In last week’s 60-14 victory over Wayland Baptist, Feaster had three catches for 195 yards and two touchdowns, including one of 79 yards.

David Feaster’s offense is averaging 46.0 points per game. The Wildcats are averaging 503.8 yards — 281.8 rushing and 222.0 passing.

Feaster was the head coach at Glenbrook for four seasons. His final team last season went 11-1, falling to eventual champion Ouachita Christian 28-27 in the quarterfinals of the non-select Division IV playoffs.

He is also a former Minden High head coach.

Louisiana Christian plays Oklahoma Panhandle State (2-2) Saturday at 6 p.m. in Goodwell, Okla.
