Crowd closes out Bites & Beats season with music and dancing

by Amber McDown

The final Bites & Beats of the season brought a lively crowd to Miller Quarters Park on Thursday evening, October 16, as residents gathered to enjoy food, music and dancing under clear fall skies.

The free, family-friendly event featured live music by Therah Newman and a small selection of food and drinks. Attendance was stronger than in recent months, with many participants taking to the park lawn to line dance and join in the fan dance as the evening went on.

Among those enjoying the night were teachers and administrators from J.L. Jones Elementary, who used the event as a chance to relax and socialize outside of work.

Bites & Beats has become a popular downtown gathering, offering live entertainment and community fellowship each month since summer.

While Thursday marked the final Bites & Beats of the season, organizers and attendees alike expressed hope that the City will continue the series next year.
