Deputies give chase on foot, UTV
BOSSIER PARISH —A man from Cullen faces multiple charges when he was arrested Tuesday afternoon in a cow pasture north of Deen Point Road off Airline Drive after he fled on foot following a traffic stop.
Gregory Willis, 38, of Cullen, now faces seven Bossier Sheriff’s Office charges, as well as four active arrest warrants, after he thought it was a good idea to run from Bossier Sheriff’s Office deputies.
It all started around 2:45 p.m. Tuesday when a Bossier deputy observed Willis commit a stop sign violation at the intersection of Airline Drive and Swan Lake Road. Willis kept driving north on Airline Drive when deputies finally got out with him on a traffic stop at the intersection of Airline Drive and Deen Point Road. However, as the deputies approached him, he said to them, “I’m not going to do this,” and headed east down Deen Point Road. He sped around 95 miles per hour while driving erratically, and a couple of miles down the road near the intersection of Wyche Road, he stopped and fled on foot into the pasture.
Deputies quickly established a perimeter as they began their foot pursuit and search for Willis. Just north on Jessie Jones Road, a resident offered to give Sgt. Dan Wolff of the Bossier Sheriff’s Office a ride in his side-by-side 4-wheeler as they rode into the pasture. They noticed the cows rustling and spotted Willis trying to hide.
However, Willis ran again, and Sgt. Wolff gave chase. About 150 yards later, Willis stopped, and while both men were tired, Sgt. Wolff said to Willis, “I promise I have more left.” Another deputy was approaching the scene in the cow pasture, and that’s when Willis decided to give up.
Deputies found Willis to be in possession of a couple of grams of methamphetamine, suspected ecstasy, scales and baggies on his person and in his vehicle. He was transported to the Bossier Maximum Security Facility and booked on the following charges: Possession of Schedule II (Meth) with intent to distribute; possession of drug paraphernalia; flight from an officer; resisting arrest; running a stop sign; excessive speed, and improper lane usage. He was also booked as a fugitive for the four warrants out of Webster Parish, including one for a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
