On Sept. 15, 1936 a very special baby, David Bruce (Buddy) Davis was born to Bruce and Kate (Frazier) Davis in Minden. He was raised to love God, life, and to touch people from all walks of life, and that he did. Buddy was definitely a character just ask anyone who knew him.

He left his earthly home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Aug.17, 2015 after a brief illness. He retired from Beaird Industries in 1998 as a welding engineer. Buddy was a member of North Acres Baptist Church, a Mason, Scottish Rites, and Shriner. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved spending time at Larto Lake with his buddies and at Igo Farm Deer Camp with family and friends. He loved life and lived it to the fullest.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Barbara Davis Brunson and Christine Davis Tucker, and brother Louis E. Davis.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 58 years, Elaine Shelley Davis of Shreveport, daughter, whom was the light of his life, Annette Davis Igo and husband Bobby of Minden. His grandchildren Neely Igo Hardaway and husband Reagan of Shongaloo, Katie Igo Boltinghouse and husband Jason of Benton, Bobby Igo III and wife Heather of Minden, Peyton Davis Igo of Shreveport and his girlfriend Brittney Mouser, great-grandchildren Rayla Hardaway, Cassie Hardaway, Kate Boltinghouse, Sami Boltinghouse, Aniston Igo and baby Igo due in March. He is also survived by his sister LaNelle Davis Roberts and husband Buzz of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, sister-in-law Kitty Davis of Haughton, brother-in-law Bill Tucker of Elysian Fields, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Through his family his legacy will live on as he has taught them the meaning of love.

A celebration of life for Buddy will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 20, 2015 at North Acres Baptist Church in Minden with the Rev. Steven Smithson officiating. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory in Minden under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral in Minden. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2015 at Rose-Neath in Minden.

Pallbearers will be Mark Davis, Robin Rowland, Curtis Bellew, Billy Ponder, Bill Tucker, William Pierce, Chris Evans and Mark Gibson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Igo, Paul Davis, Alan Lee, Fred Evans, Sutton Orenbaun and Claude Reeves.

The family would like to thank Dr. Bob Massingill, Dr. DeSai, Dr. Singh and Dr. Kelly Carlisle, and the nurses and staff at Christus Schumpert Highland Hospital.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home, St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Shriners Hospital or the donor’s choice.
