Deputies John Lewis Jr. and Marshall Merritt stopped a vehicle on Highway 80 for no headlight. When Lewis approached the vehicle, he could see in plain view suspected marijuana inside, according to the police report.

At that time, Lewis had all occupants exit the vehicle and conducted a search. That search reportedly revealed three containers of suspected marijuana and suspected drug paraphernalia inside a paper bag containing marijuana grinders and 18 cigars in the area of the vehicle where Malone was seated.

Malone and Davis were placed under arrest and booked at Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
