1Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, June 11, 2015 for Don E. Austin, 62, at the chapel of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Homer with Mr. Brian Mixon officiating. Interment will follow at Arlington Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home at 9 a.m.

Mr. Austin was born Dec. 27, 1952 to Charles “Hamburger” and Helen Austin in Denison, Texas. He was an avid Scout leader and loved by many. As a mechanic, he had a love for cars, was a collector of them and collector of fine junk. He loved his dog and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charlie Austin and Ben Moore Sr.; and grandchildren, James Austin, Helen Austin and Sarahbeth Austin.

He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Janice Austin; son, Charles “Bubba” Austin and Toni of Minden; two daughters, Racheal Knudson and Richard of Minden and Justina Vaughan and John of Emerson, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Deziray Vaughan, Charles “CJ” Austin, Jr. and Trey Austin; two sisters, Corliss Austin and Pam Austin both of Homer; three nieces, Tracey Ratcliff and husband, Chris, Lori Hamilton and husband, Jimmy and Stacy Rogers; two nephews, James Lawrance, Johnny Rhea Boyd Jr. and wife Jennifer and Benjamin Moore and wife Jennifer; along with other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Jamin Butcher, Dan Fraizer, Ed Labruyere, Joe Bill Gamble, Kirk McCann, Sherry Davenport, Sinjin Weiss and Brandon Weiss.
Honorary pallbearer will be Randy Moore and Jamie Lawrance.

For friends considering memorials in honor of Mr. Austin, his family suggests the Local Troop of Boys Scouts of America or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
