DOYLINE – The way the Doyline Panthers are playing, playoff baseball is almost a certainty.
The Panthers picked up two wins Thursday night against Arcadia, moving their record to 14-11 with one game left on the regular season schedule.
In game one of the doubleheader, Doyline’s Lucas Darbonne tossed a no-hitter.
Darbonne was effectively wild. He struck out eight batters while walking six, but never allowed Arcadia to square anything up.
The highlight at the plate was Nick Burge’s three-run blast in the second inning to break the game open.
In the second game, the Panthers used an army of arms to limit Arcadia to three runs.
Cameron Smith and Parker Hearne each struck out the side in one inning of work and Jax Gaynor and Josh Jordan also fired strong innings.
Burge once again led the way with a pair of singles, with Smith, Gaynor, Darbonne, Trey Ware and Bryce Taylor adding RBIs for Doyline.
Doyline finishes the regular season Friday when they travel to face Quitman in an important district game.
Doyline currently sits in the No. 16 slot in the LHSAA power ratings for Class B, but could move up with a win over No. 8 Quitman.
First pitch is set for 4 p.m. in Quitman.

Just letting you know you forgot one pitcher in second game his name is Joshua Longstreth. He face 3 batters got two strike out and the other out on first. Only 12 pitches for that inning.
