Webster Parish Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man who reportedly stole 31 Klonopin pills from a vehicle Tuesday.

Deputies were dispatched to the 600 block of Doc Steed Road for a domestic disturbance in which the victim told them James Richard Rotton, 42, of the same address, came inside the residence drunk and began cursing at her. According to reports, the victim told deputies Rotton kicked a box of perfume, breaking the bottle, and threw a small bag across the bedroom, breaking a ceramic cross on the nightstand.

Deputies say Rotton was also accused of taking 31 Klonopin pills from a truck borrowed by the victim and left the scene.

They then made contact with Rotton after seeing him walking along Highway 371, and say they noted a strong odor of what they believed to be alcoholic beverages coming from his person.

He was then placed under arrest for criminal damage to property, theft of prescription medication and disturbing the peace.

He was transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
