Just like a freaking DEMOCRAT to try and raise taxes when Louisiana’s economy is already in deep trouble thanks to the lost revenues on O&G severance taxes. Raising the sales tax is an equitable way to share the tax burden on all consumers but would make Minden have a 10.5% rate and there is no limit or pro rating of this tax. Imagine buying a $50,000 car and having to fork up even more in sales tax. UGH! What about negotiating lower pension benefit contributions for statre employees??
