End of School Bash draws large crowd to Victory Park

by Amber McDown

Families from across the community gathered at Victory Park on Sunday as the Miss Minden organization and the Young Women’s Service Club hosted a successful End of School Bash to celebrate the start of summer break.

A large crowd attended the afternoon event, taking part in games, dancing, splash pad activities, bubble parties, food, and community fellowship. Organizers said community response to the event was overwhelmingly positive, with many attendees already expressing hopes of making the celebration even larger next year.

The bash featured activities led by Miss Minden Sadie Brown and members of the Young Women’s Service Club, along with appearances by local volunteers, law enforcement officers, firefighters, teachers, and coaches.

Children participated in kickball, tug-of-war, dancing, and confidence-building activities throughout the afternoon, while families also visited adoptable dogs brought by Lama Animal Rescue.

The event also served as a collection drive for the Joe LeBlanc Food Pantry and its Kids Summer Food Program.

Heather Feeback of the Young Women’s Service Club said the event reflected the spirit of community support organizers hoped to create.

“Today wasn’t just an End of School Bash — it was a celebration of confidence, community service, friendship, and fun,” Feeback said. “From bubble parties and bounce houses to volunteer signups and giving back, we came together to remind our kids that they are supported, celebrated, and capable of amazing things. Here’s to a summer full of joy, growth, and unforgettable memories!”

Organizers said the strong turnout and enthusiastic community response have already sparked conversations about expanding the event in the future.
