End of year recital and award ceremony held at First Baptist Church

The students of Carolyn Brasell presented their end of year recital at First Baptist Church on May 21. Students played a representation of the work he or she had accomplished during the year to an audience of parents, relatives and friends.

Appearing on the program was Sarah Brown, Rebekah Adams, Ryland Barnes, Madeline Joynor, Sofia Lorincz and Kathryn Murphy. The last part of the recital was given to duets, played by Lorincz, Murphy and Brasell.

After the recital, awards and certificates were given to all that had participated in different festivals held throughout the school year.

In March, Students played two pieces at the Federation Festival in Ruston at Louisiana Tech. Le made a superior rating and Lorincz made a Superior+ rating.

In April, the annual Guild Auditions are held to grade each student to highlight proper technique and encourage improvement. Report cards and trophies were given to Adams, Brown, Joynor, Le and Lorincz.

Trophies were awareded to Adams, Brown, Joyner, Le and Lorincz for fulfilling the required practice time for the entire school year. Adult students Beverly Cooper, Robin Mellinger and Ronnie Stewart also recieved these trophies.

Trophies were awarded to Le, Joyner, Lorincz, Cooper and Mellinger for completing a level of music theory.

Joyner was awarded the Outstanding Junior High School Student award while Lorincz was awarded the Outstanding Musician award.
