Five Minden girls garner postseason recognition in 1-4A

Five Minden Lady Tiders made district 1-4A’s all district basketball team, with two on the second team and three making honorable mention.

Senior Tiaga Pugh was selected to the second team. Pugh averaged 15.2 points per game and seven rebounds in district.

“She was a consistent player for four years,” Lady Tider head coach Jacob Brown said. “She put up phenomenal numbers and I’m glad she could go out with a solid campaign.”

Also on second team with 14.4 ppg and 3.7 steals per game was sophomore Sha’Terra Batton.

“She can score and create offense with her defense,” Brown said.

Marlena Hill, Sha’ Whiting and Bre Rogers all made honorable mention.

Hill averaged almost six points and six rebounds per game in district.

“Marlena was a big inside presence for us,” Brown said. “When we needed a big rebound she was there.”
Whiting averaged eight ppg for Minden in district play and was a defensive presence on the wing.

returning,” Brown said. “She only continues to get better.”

Rodgers rounds out the Lady Tiders to receive postseason recognition, landing on honorable mention with Hill and Whiting. Rodgers averaged almost 10 ppg in her freshman season.
“Bre got better for us as the season went on,” Brown said. “She’s an outstanding player and the exciting part about that is she’s only a freshman. She’ll be a big part of our success for the next three years.”
