Frances White Reneau (Parnell)

by Minden Press-Herald

Frances was born Aug. 25, 1921, and departed this life on Sunday, May 22, 2016, at the age of 94. She had been a resident of Oaks of Louisiana for 6 years. Frances was married to the late Lucion Douglas Reneau for over 50 years, and to the late James Parnell of Choudrant for five years.

She and Lucion had two daughters, Cynthia Haynes (Donald) and Cathy Lewis (Ronnie). Proud grandparents of Chris Haynes, Thomas Haynes (Jennifer), and Heather Lewis Reed (Scott). Four great-grandchildren: Tessa Haynes, Cole Haynes, Alex Haynes, Molly Reed and Lewis Reed.

Frances had a full and adventuresome life that included traveling alone during WWII on a bus to meet a friend while their husbands were deployed and going to work in a plant riveting parts on ships and planes. She was an avid seamstress and could construct anything from draperies to clothing. She spent many years working at the A&P market in Minden. She became a beautician in 1972 and worked for over 25 years running her own shop.

She and her friends had many a laugh in her tiny shop. Frances and Lucion lived in Minden for over 20 years raising their family and working. After a transfer to Dubach, they returned to enjoy their retirement gardening, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. After the death of her husband, the dreaded disease Alzheimer’s began to take its toll. She battles this disease for over 20 years with its ups and downs. Throughout most of these years she remained happy and social. One of her favorite past times was visiting and often times helping out others if she could. These last months she was lovingly cared for by Regional Hospice. Many thanks go out to them for making her last days comfortable. Memorials may be made to the charity of choice.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Minden with the Rev. Andrew Abshire officiating. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory in Minden. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time Wednesday at Rose-Neath Funeral Home.
