A 41-year-old Arkansas man was arrested Friday, May 29, after allegedly attempting to steal Pokémon trading cards from Walmart in Minden, according to a Minden Police Department report.

Officers were dispatched to Walmart in the 1300 block of Homer Road in reference to a theft complaint.

Upon arrival, officers met with a loss prevention employee, who reported observing Steven Slaughter, 41, of El Dorado, Arkansas, place Pokémon cards into his pocket while inside the store.

According to the report, the unpaid merchandise had a total value of $54.88.

After being detained, Slaughter was advised of his Miranda rights and agreed to speak with officers. Police said he admitted taking the cards, telling officers he had been “stupid” to do so.

Slaughter was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Minden Police Department for booking.

He was charged with misdemeanor theft.

All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
