Grand Cane man arrested on DWI charge in Minden

by Minden Press-Herald

A Grand Cane man was arrested early Sunday on a charge of driving while intoxicated after being stopped on U.S. Highway 80, according to Louisiana State Police.

Around 12:15 AM on September 7, troopers stopped Brandon Bursey, 41, after observing him cross the white fog line multiple times while traveling eastbound on U.S. 80.

Troopers reported Bursey showed signs of impairment, including slurred speech, red and glassy eyes, unsteady balance, and slow movements. He admitted to drinking and agreed to perform field sobriety tests, which he failed, according to authorities.

Bursey was arrested and taken to the Minden Police Department, where he submitted to a breath test that showed a blood alcohol concentration of 0.116 percent. He later told troopers he had consumed one beer and about seven small gin and cranberry drinks at a casino before driving home.

Bursey was booked on a DWI charge (1st) and improper lane use.

All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
