Two Haitians arrested on marijuana charges at truck stop

by Minden Press-Herald

Two men were arrested Saturday night at Wally’s Truck Stop on Goodwill Road after state troopers reported finding marijuana in their vehicles, according to Louisiana State Police.

Around 11:25 PM on September 6, troopers approached a vehicle in which Wenderson Innocent, 26, of Tonopah, Arizona, and Stanley Osiris, 30, of Austin, Texas, were seated. Authorities said both men showed nervous behavior, and a strong odor of burnt marijuana was coming from the vehicle.

Troopers detained the men for a narcotics investigation and advised them of their rights. A search of the vehicles, a Volkswagen Jetta and a Mercedes-Benz, revealed marijuana in plain view, marijuana rolled in papers, loose marijuana bud, and rolling papers, according to the report.

Innocent and Osiris admitted the marijuana was theirs and said they smoked it regularly. Both men, who were passing through Webster Parish on temporary work passes from Haiti, were arrested and charged with possession of Schedule I marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
