Attendance was lighter than usual Thursday evening at the August Bites & Beats in Miller Quarters Park, with hot and humid weather likely keeping many residents at home.
The monthly food truck and live music series, normally drawing strong community turnouts, faced additional setbacks as the scheduled band did not appear and fewer vendors than usual participated.
Despite the smaller crowd, families who attended found ways to beat the heat. Two large inflatable water slides were set up in the park, providing fun for children throughout the evening.
Bites & Beats is scheduled to return September 18 and October 16, continuing its run on the third Thursday of each month. Organizers are hopeful for more favorable weather as the series heads into fall.
