High school baseball: Glenbrook, North Webster, Lakeside win

Glenbrook, North Webster and Lakeside were winners Tuesday.

Glenbrook downed Evangel Christian 6-4 at Glenbrook, North Webster edged Saline 5-3 at North Webster and Lakeside topped Doyline 16-1 at Lakeside.

Elsewhere, Minden fell to Haughton 13-5 at Haughton.

At Glenbrook, Easton Sanders had two doubles and three RBI.

Cason Clemons went 3-for-4 with a double. Landry Powell had a double.

Sanders’ first double and Powell’s double came in the Apaches’ 3-run first inning. Sanders’ second double brought home two runs and gave Glenbrook a 5-1 lead in the second.

Evangel scored three in the top of the fourth to get within two.

Reliver Tony Haulmark went 3 2/3 innings. He struck out the side in the sixth. The Eagles loaded the bases with two outs in the seventh thanks to an error and a pair of singles. But Haulmark induced a groundout to end the game.

Starter Turner McLelland went 3 1/3 inning. He allowed two hits, walked four and struck out four.

Glenbrook (10-5) is scheduled to play in the Grace Christian tournament Friday and Saturday. Evangel dropped to 6-8.

At Doyline, Lakeside led 5-0 after three innings then scored 12 in the top of the fourth.

CJ Watts had a home run, double and three RBI. Matthew Aguilera went 3-for-3 

Bradley Dick and Hunter Sutton both went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Cade Boley had a double and three RBI. Cooper Chase had a double,

Bradley Dick didn’t allow a hit in two innings on the mound. Sutton allowed two and struck out three in three innings.

Benton Bates and Noah Spears had hits for Doyline.

Lakeside (8-4) is scheduled to host Loyola Thursday at 6 in the opening game of a three-game District 1-2A series. Doyline is scheduled to play in the Stanley tournament.

At Haughton, Minden stayed close early. The Tide scored two runs in the top of the third and one in the top of the fourth to cut a 4-0 Haughton lead to 4-3.

But the Bucs blew the game open with six in the bottom of the fourth.

Landyn Huddleston went 2-for-3 with two doubles and three RBI. 

Jakobe Jackson and Zander Rowell had one double each.

Minden (9-5) is scheduled to visit North Webster Thursday at 6. Haughton improved to 12-3.

At North Webster, the Knights improved to 10-3 with the victory.
