High school baseball: Lakeside sweeps Mansfield; Minden falls to Loyola in 1-4A series opener

The Lakeside Warriors swept a District 3-2A doubleheader against Mansfield Tuesday at Lakeside.

Lakeside won the first game 16-0 and the second 20-5.

Elsewhere, Minden fell to Loyola 6-2 in the first of their District 1-4A series at Griffith Stadium. Doyline lost to Providence Classical Academy 12-2 at Doyline.

At Lakeside, the Warriors had six hits in the three-inning game and took advantage of nine walks.

Drake Chreene went 2-for-3 with three RBI. Gage Williams had a hit and drew two walks. Jake Glass had two RBI. Bryson Finley had a double and two RBI.

Finley gave up one hit and struck out two in the first two innings. Nate Wallace allowed one hit and struck out one in the third.

Glass went 3-for-3 with a home run and two RBI in the three-inning second game. Brock Case had three RBI and Beaux Hankins had two.

Remmington Arender, Chase Daniel and Case combined for eight strikeouts and limited the Wolverines to one hit. Case had five of the strikeouts in two innings.

Lakeside (7-17, 2-2) hosts Northwood Friday at 5. Mansfield dropped to 1-11 and 0-4.

At Loyola, Loyola’s Luca Golden limited the Tide to five singles. Minden’s Barron Bower didn’t allow a hit or a walk after coming into the game in the fifth with no outs and runners at the corners.

Minden (17-7, 1-2) and Loyola (14-11, 1-2) are scheduled to complete the series Thursday at Minden at 6.

At Doyline, Zack Moseley had two of the Panthers’ four hits. Doyline (6-11) visits Homer Monday at 5:30. PCA improved to 7-10.
