High school baseball: Minden, Doyline, North Webster win

The Minden Crimson Tide, Doyline Panthers and North Webster Knights picked up victories Saturday.

Minden defeated Loyola 5-3 in Shreveport, and Doyline defeated Bossier 21-0 in four innings at Doyline. North Webster swept a home doubleheader against Plain Dealing 13-1 and 16-3.

At Loyola, Bryson Ranger went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Landon Brewer went 2-for-3.

Jaxon Smith pitched a complete game.

Minden led 4-0 after 5 1/2 innings. Loyola rallied with three in the bottom of the sixth. The Tide answered with one in the top of the inning.

Smith induced three groundouts in the bottom of the seventh.

Minden completed the regular season 21-8. According to GeauxPreps.com, the Tide are No. 14 in the non-select Division II power rankings. The No. 7-16 teams in the final rankings host first-round playoff games.

The regular season officially ends Monday. Playoff pairings will be announced by the LHSAA Tuesday.

At Doyline, Austin Arbaugh had two of the Panthers’ six hits. Doyline took advantage of 15 walks and five hit-by-pitches.

Dakota Stewart had one hit, two walks and five RBI. Zach Normand and Kenneth Lee had two RBI each.

Stewart and Kenneth Lee combined on a one-hitter with nine strikeouts.

Doyline finished the regular season 13-13. According to GeauxPreps.com, the Panthers are No. 11 in the non-select Division V power rankings.

At North Webster, seven Knights combined for 10 hits in the first game. Deon Coleman went 2-for-2 with three RBI. Pitcher Tanner Temple went 2-for-3. Colby Dinkins had three RBI.

Temple allowed two hits and struck out eight.

North Webster (13-15) is scheduled to close the regular season Monday with a doubleheader at Saline at 4.

The Knights are No. 25 in the non-select Division III power rankings. The top 24 in the final rankings make the playoffs.
