High school baseball: Minden routs Southwood in season opener; North Webster, Lakeside win

The Minden Crimson Tide opened the season Tuesday with a 15-0 victory over Southwood in four innings at home.

Elsewhere, North Webster improved to 2-0 with a 17-3 rout of Ringgold in Springhill, and Lakeside rolled past Union Parish 14-4 in five innings in Sibley.

At Minden, the Tide’s Landon Brewer pitched a one-hitter. He struck out eight and walked only two.

Minden had 12 hits and also took advantage of 12 walks. Eight players had hits.

Bryson Ranger had two doubles and three RBI. Parker Salas went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Brody Bower went 2-for-3 with a double. Jaxon Smith had a double and three RBI.

Minden is playing in the Many tournament which begins Thursday.

At Lakeside, Peyton Gray went 3-for-3. Eli Campbell went 2-for-3. Hunter Sutton went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Jon Jon Dick had a double and two RBI. He also drew two walks.

Lakeside (2-0) is playing in the Many tournament later this week.

North Webster begins a three-game series against North Caddo Thursday at home.
