The Lakeside Warriors’ season came to an end Friday.
Lakeside, the No. 21 seed, was swept by No. 12 Pine 4-1 and 5-2 in a best-of-3 non-select Division III first-round playoff series in Franklinton.
Lakeside trailed 4-0 through six innings in the first game. The Warriors rallied with two runs in the seventh on a two-out triple by Bryson Finley. But a flyout ended the game.
Gage Williams turned in an outstanding performance on the mound. He allowed two hits, struck out four and walked three in six innings.
Lakeside had four hits against Pine’s Griff McCormick. Williams, Drake Chreene and Jake Glass had one single apiece.
The Warriors also limited the Raiders to two hits in the second game. Starter Maddox Vise gave up the two hits, struck out four and walked five. Mason Shipp allowed one run and walked two in two innings of relief.
Pine got another stellar pitching effort in the second game. Levi White allowed four hits, struck out three and walked none.
Glass went 2-for-3. Williams had a single. Finley had an RBI-triple.
Lakeside closed its season 12-24. Pine improved to 18-12.
Minden (22-11), the No. 8 seed in non-select Division III, and Glenbrook (17-14), the No. 11 seed in select Division IV, both received first-round byes. The Tide will host the winner between No. 9 Iota and No. 24 South Terrebonne in a second-round series next week. Iota (18-9) won Game 1 2-1 Friday.
Glenbrook will visit Riverside Academy (20-10) in the second round April 30 at 4.
