The No. 16 seed Minden Lady Tiders fell to No. 17 DeRidder 8-5 in the first round of the non-select Division II playoffs Friday at Minden.
In a Class B first-round game, No. 13 Doyline fell to No. 20 Choudrant 20-2 at Doyline.
At Minden, the Lady Tiders got off to a good start. After DeRidder scored one in the top of the first, Minden answered with three in the bottom of the inning and then scored one in the second.
The Lady Dragons cut the deficit to two with a run in the second then took a 5-4 lead with three in the fifth.
Minden tied it at 5 in the bottom of the inning. After a scoreless sixth, DeRidder put three on the board in the top of the seventh.
The Lady Tiders had eight hits. Kaelynn Williams went 2-for-4 with a double. Lindsay Ryan went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI.
McKinley James and Roikie Dotie had one double each. Audrey Frye and Kylie Ferguson had one single and one RBI each.
Ryan scattered eight hits, struck out eight and walked two.
DeRidder’s Laila Roberson had a home run, triple and three RBI.
Minden closed its season 11-15. DeRidder improved to 11-12.
At Doyline, the Lady Panthers had six hits. Karmadie Bartlett had a double. Lanie Gates, Sariyah Gill, Kanyion Bartlett, Taylin Wallace and KJ Johnson all had singles. Karmadie and Kanyion Bartlett had one RBI each.
Doyline closed its season 16-7. Choudrant improved to 10-17.
Glenbrook, the No. 2 seed in select Division IV, and Lakeside, the No. 3 seed in non-select Division IV, both received first-round byes and will host second-round games next week.
Glenbrook (22-6) will face No. 15 St. Edmund (16-11), which defeated No. 18 Central Catholic 12-8 in the first round. Lakeside (21-9) will face No. 14 South Plaquemines (11-14), which defeated No. 19 Ringgold 13-12, Tuesday at 4 p.m.
